Our client specializes in the maintenance and repairs of mine site-based Road Trucks, Explosive Trucks Mobile Plant, Light Vehicles, Truck Trailers and Fixed Plant. The company has recently been awarded several ongoing maintenance contracts based at numerous mine sites in Western Australia where they are seeking to expand their team of FIFO Mechanical Tradesmen, where they are currently seeking.

Rosters
Depending on the location of the mine site, FIFO rosters vary across;
- 8&6: Days
- 2&1: Weeks
- 2&2: Weeks
- Field Service / Floaters: Coverage of above Rosters or Ad Hoc Field Service
- Metro Workshop in Bibra Lake + FIFO: Ad Hoc Field Service or Roster Coverage
The Role
Based on Mine Sites the work has a main focus on Explosive Trucks, Road Trucks, Material Handling and Mobile Plant where successful candidates will be working on the following;
- Explosive Trucks
- Scania Trucks
- Volvo Trucks
- Material Handling – IT Loaders, Forklifts
- Trailers – Side Tippers & Over Axle
- Medium Mobile Plant – Loaders, Excavators, Off Hwy
- Water Carts
- Service Trucks
- 4WD Light Vehicles
The work will mainly comprise of the following;
- Daily Pre-Start Checks
- Scheduled Maintenance – Minor & Major Servicing
- Breakdown, Fault Find & Repair – Minor & Major
Common tasks or components that Tradesmen will be conducting work on include;
- Brake Systems & Adjustments
- Fuel Systems – Pumps & Injectors
- Suspension
- Engine Cooling Systems
- Component Change Outs
- Transmission
- Hydraulic Systems
- Pneumatic Systems
- Lubrication Systems
- Alternators & Starter Motors
- Axles & Wheel Ends
- Steering
- Auto Electrical
When Tradesmen are not working on Trucks, they maybe assigned to assisting Mechanical Fitters in Fixed Plant Maintenance.
About the Candidate
Candidates that have Trade Qualifications in Mechanical Trades with experience on road trucks are encouraged to apply where we will consider the following Mechanical Trades or similar, across the following;
- Heavy Vehicle Mechanics
- Heavy Diesel Mechanics
- Heavy Duty Fitters
- Mechanical Fitters
- Light Vehicle Mechanics
The trade skills and experience we are seeking includes;
- At least 1 year post trade experience working on Trucks or Mobile Plant with experience on major components such as Diesels, Transmissions, Trailers, Suspension, Electrical, Braking Systems, Axels & Wheel Ends to name a few
- Experienced in Mobile Plant / Heavy Earth Moving machinery
- Has exposure to European brands trucks (Ideally Scania & Volvo)
- Experienced in Hydraulics & Pneumatics – Trucks, Mobile Plant & Fixed Plant
- Is experienced and competent on Computer Diagnostic Equipment
- Is experienced in completing detailed job sheets, JSA, diagnostic reports
- Has sourced and ordered parts & consumables, working off hard copy or data-based machinery manuals or inventories
Essential Criteria include;
- Pass a Pre-Employment Medical
- Pass regular Drug & Alcohol tests
- Be able to supply a Police Clearance
- Be able to work 12-hour days
- Is committed to “long term work”
- Possess Initiative, that enjoys challenges
- Is able to work effectively, autonomously or in a team
- Has a positive attitude, where you are proactive and work in a smart and efficient manner
- Has a strong work ethic, having excellent attendance and punctuality
- Although not essential, but preferred, we are also seeking candidates that possess the following;
- Possess a Heavy Vehicle Repairers License
- Truck License – HR or MR and above
- High Risk Fork Lift Ticket
Remuneration
This is a Temp to Perm role where initially you will be working through Staff-Net on a casual basis. After 3 to 6 months (Potentially earlier) and if you prove to have great technical skills, a positive attitude and work well with the team you will be signed over to Perm on our client books, receiving perm benefits such as leave entitlements and sick pay.
Depending on your experience and qualifications, the pay rates will be between the following;
- $65.00 to $75.00 + Super (Flat)
- Paid Weekly
