Our client is a WA owned family business who prides themselves on a reputation built on quality workmanship through a well-equipped workshop and highly skilled team. Supplying to the mining, construction and agricultural industries, they specialise in custom fabrication, welding, machining, laser cutting and plasma cutting.


Temp to Perm – Job Structure

Out client has the intention to employ the successful candidate on a full-time basis, where the role will be structured as a “Temp to Perm”. The successful candidate will work through Staff-Net on a casual basis for 3 to 6 months where after such time, if the client is satisfied that you are able to carry out the work responsibilities to a high standard, a permanent role will be offered.


Location, Working Days & Hours 

  • Location: Forrestfield
  • Working Days: Monday to Friday
  • Working Hours: 7:30 AM to 5.00 PM

The Role

The role is working in a small workshop with a good crew and working environment. The workshop is fairly quiet as there is no heavy cutting or heavy fabrication as well as having a large variety of plant and equipment that includes, laser and plasma cutting, pipe bending machines, guillotines, presses and CNC Machining.

The work consists of mostly custom fabrication jobs and batch work in mild steel, aluminium or stainless steel, where some examples of their work includes;

  • Structural Welding – Frames, Stands & Skids
  • Ute & Light Truck Trays & Accessories
  • Earth Moving Bucket Repair or Modifications
  • Customised Trailers
  • Drill Rig Components
  • Agricultural Implements
  • Walkways, Hand Rails & Steps
  • Pipe Spools, Couplings & Manifolds

Nearly all the steel for jobs is either Laser or Plasma cut or CNC Machined which makes the Fabricator & Welders job much easier to lay out steel and weld. In addition, most jobs come with detailed drawings that includes 3D and Shop Drawings.

 

The Candidate

We are seeking a Trade Qualified candidate either in the following or similar;

  • Boiler Maker Welder
  • Fabricator with Welding Certs
  • Sheet Metal

The available role requires a very versatile Fabricator and Welder as the work will comprise of both Fabricating & Welding where you will be cutting, bending or forming steel (most of which is precut) laying out steel to plans and then welding.

Due to our client working across Mild Steel, Aluminium and Stainless Steel we require a candidate with excellent welding skills in;

  • MIG-GMAW: 1G, 2G & 3G Positions
  • TIG – GTAW: 1G, 2G & 3G Positions

We are also seeking a candidate that has excellent Fabrication skills where they are experienced in the following;

  • Interpreting & Working off 3D & 2D General Arrangements & Shop Drawings
  • Measuring & Marking up Steel
  • Laying out & tacking cut steel
  • Operating Workshop Equipment such as Ban Saws, Drop Saws, Pipe Benders, Presses & Guillotines

Although not essential, candidates that also possess the following skills and experience are encouraged to apply;

  • Assembly Experience
  • Are able to provide supervision and guidance to an Apprentice
  • Machining (Lathe/Milling Machine) experience
  • Have set up jobs on Lazer or Plasma Cutting Units

  • Have Full Working Rights in Australia with no Restrictions
  • Have the intention to secure ongoing permanent work
  • Has an excellent work ethic with great attendance & punctuality
  • Is able to work over time when required
  • Have excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Be highly organised and able to prioritise and manage numerous tasks at the same time

 

Weld Test

All candidates that make the shortlist will also be required to conduct a weld test at our client’s workshop to assess your welding skills in both MIG and TIG.


Remuneration

The pay rates below are casual pay rates where you will initially be working through Staff-Net on a casual basis where after 3 to 6 months the client has had the time to assess your performance and work ethic a permanent role maybe offered.

  • $45.00 to $55.00 Per Hour (Flat)
