The Client

Our client supplies Construction Companies with Structural Steel either from their stocked items such as Angle Iron, RHS (Rectangular Hollow Steel) and SHS (Square Hollow Steel). They also can Custom Fabricate to clients specification structural steel such as T-Bars, H Beams / Universal Beams and Corner Angles.

Due to a large increase in orders our client is seeking a Boiler Maker Welder to work in their Custom Steel department.

Working Days & Hours

• Location: Rockingham
• Working Days: Monday to Friday
• Working Hours: 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM

The Role

Our client has 2 main sections at their factory which include;

• Custom Fabrication – T-Bars, H Beams & Corner Angles
• Angle Iron – Cutting to Length

Working across the 2 departments the Boiler Maker Welder will be carrying out the following responsibilities;

• Working Off Detailed Job Sheets
• Picking Steel for Jobs
• Moving Steel to Cutting Tables or Welding Bays operating Overhead Crane
• Precisely Measuring & Marking Up Steel
• Cutting Steel Using Ban Saw, Plasma Cutting Unit or Hand Held Plasma Cutter
• Laying Out Cut Steel as Per Shop Drawings
• MIG Welding
• Marking / Naming each beam
• Bundling Completed Steel Orders & Moving to Laydown Area
• Loading Trucks using Forklift

The work is not complicated fabrication and welding where most customized steel is either;

• T-Bars Using Flat Bar Steel
• H-Beam Extension – Butt Welding
• Corner Angles – Welding Angle Iron
• Cleat Welding of H-Beams

The workshop is well organized in bays where each bay has steel stock, overhead cranes, cutting tables and welding bays.  The process is very straight forwards where each order has a detailed job sheet that includes steel type, detailed plans / shop drawings and quantities.

The processes is very streamlined for efficiency and production where each Boiler Maker Welder will pick the steel, measure up, cut, weld, label and then bundle up where they put completed orders in laydown area for transport.

The Candidate

We are seeking a qualified Boiler Maker Welder, that has worked in a similar role fabricating and welding structural steel Beams such as;

• T-Bars Using Flat Bar Steel
• H-Beam Extension – Butt Welding
• Corner Angles – Welding Angle Iron
• Cleat Welding of H-Beams

The successful candidate will be competent in the following;

• MIG Welding – 1G, 2G & 3G Positions
• Can Weld Heavy Structural Steel – Butt Welds & Cleat Welds
• Able to Work Off – Plans & Shop Drawings

In addition, you will be familiar with operating the following plant and equipment;

• Ban Saw
• Plasma Cutter – Bench & Hand Held
• Operated Overhead Cranes moving Steel

Candidate must be aware that this role is focused on Production where you will have to meet daily KPI’s on orders.

 Remuneration

The pay rates below are casual pay rates where you will initially be working through Staff-Net on a casual basis where after 3 to 6 months, the client has had the time to assess your performance and work ethic where a permanent role maybe offered.

• $45.00 to $55.00 Per Hour (Flat)
